General Information

The DNA sequencing core facility at Tufts University supplied DNA sequencing and other related services to researchers at Tufts as well as outside organizations. The core facility was established in 1987 and currently has six staff members.

High Volume Sequencing

96 well tray | $480.00 ($5.00 per sample)

Sample Requirements

PCR product

10- 150 ng/µl | 10 µl minimum
The facility must be told the size of the PCR product.

Plasmid DNA

40-150 ng/µl | 300 ng total

BACs, Cosmids and Genomic DNA

High Volume

Samples must be supplied premixed with the sequencing primer in 96 well traces.

Primers

5 pmol/µl | 5µl
Common sequencing primers provided at no cost.

Other details

All samples must be supplied in either water or Tris (no EDTA). Water is preferred.

24-48 hours, average of 36 hours

Comments

Tufts University Core Facility now offers LongTrace processing of their traces to achieve typical read length in excess of 1000 bp. Tufts do offer a wide range of proteomics services though which appear interesting.
