RNA visualization.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am a Ph.D student on molecular plant pathology. I have been tryning to extract RNA from banana peel to construct a cDNA library. I have optimized the RNA extraction protocol using literitures.However RNA concentration some what low but it can be visualized through 1% agarose non denaturing gel but it can not be visualized by denaturing gel. Therefore I want to know the reason for this and ways to improvemy RNA yield.
