Some good news for those of you still using the ABI 3700 - we have ben able to create a version of LongTrace that supports traces coming from the ABI 3700. This version is still in testing phase but the results so far suggest that the read lengths obtained are about the same as you can get from ABI 3730 trace (ie in excess of 1000 high quality bases per trace). This translates out at improvements in read length in excess of 40%! If you would like to find out more about this version then please email us.

We have now released this version to the LongTrace service so you can now try LongTrace processing on 3700 traces via the LongTrace FTP service or the free LongTrace webservice.

We recommend that ABI 3700 uses use PeakTrace rather than LongTrace as PeakTrace not only offers better basecalling but supports a wide rang of chemistries and POP types.
