Here are some new publications that mention the use of PeakTrace in their methods sections. While most people using PeakTrace are unaware they are using it as it is being performed automatically for them by their DNA sequencing service provider, it is always good to see small-scale users making use of the free online version of PeakTrace.
Auto PeakTrace 6 RP Software Released
We have released Auto PeakTrace 6 RP. This is a major update to our PeakTrace RP software and offers a number of improvement and new features as well as the usual improvements and fixes. The full list of changes are.

- Parallel installation of Auto PeakTrace 6 RP with Auto PeakTrace RP.
- Improved handling of capillaries that run slower than expected.
- Improved signal to noise determination.
- Improved trimming of noise level data from traces.

- Improved basecalling of traces without KB quality scores.
- Improved basecalling of short traces.
- Improved q average trim.
- Additional error messages to help identify the cause of problems.
- Updated visual design and help manual.
- Bug fixes.
Many of these changes will be automatically applied to users of previous versions of Auto PeakTrace RP as they are controlled by the remote server software, however the two new features (clean baseline and extra normalisation) can only be utilised via the Auto PeakTrace 6 RP. This major update is available from the Nucleics Downloads page and it is highly recommend that all users of PeakTrace RP upgrade to this version.
PeakTrace Online Now Using PeakTrace 6
We have updated the free version of PeakTrace Basecaller to use PeakTrace 6. This update is a significant upgrade for PeakTrace and it generates superior trace files compared to the 5.90 version. We will be releasing the standalone versions for Windows and Linux of PeakTrace 6 over the next few days, but in the meantime you can see some of what PeakTrace 6 can do now on your own traces.
Auto PeakTrace 5.92 Released
We have released Auto PeakTrace 5.92 today. This is just a small bug release version to fix a few rare bugs. If you are not having any problems with Auto PeakTrace 5.91 then this update is optional. We are working on a major update which we hope to have out in the next week or so – stay tuned.
PeakTrace FTP Retired
We have as of today retired the PeakTrace FTP service. This service has been superseded by Auto PeakTrace RP. To establish a PeakTrace RP account please contact us.
Auto PeakTrace RP 5.81 MacOSX Released
We have released the Mac OS X version of Auto PeakTrace RP 5.81. This is not a true port of Auto PeakTrace RP to the Mac OS X system, but simply a wine wrapper around the Windows version. While it works well, it will not look like a true Mac OS X program. It is available from our downloads page.
Auto PeakTrace 5.81 Released
Auto PeakTrace 5.81 has been released for both Windows and Linux. This release has improves the robustness of PeakTrace to processing, especially when used with remote directories. It is highly recommended that all Auto PeakTrace users upgrade to the version. If you are currently using a version prior to 5.70 you will need to contact us or your local supplier to obtain a license update before upgrading.
The full list of changes for 5.81 are:
- New Feature. The peakTrace.exe version can now create the required sub-folders when the “mirror directory structure in output” option is selected.
- New Feature. Traces that cause a recoverable crash are copied to the output folder into a sub-folder called “crash”.
- Improved robustness when using slow or unreliable networks and/or remote shared drives.
- Input and Output paths of up to 4096 characters now supported (command line version only).
- TraceTuner basecalling now an optional extra install.
- Slightly faster processing (~5%).
- Bug fixes and help manual updates.
This update can be obtained from our downloads page and if you are using a version of Auto PeakTrace after 5.70 the automatic update should let you know an update is available. You will need to update the CodeMeter runtime (5.21) and firmware (2.04) to the latest to use 5.81. The instructions for doing this are in the latest Auto PeakTrace Help Manual.
Auto PeakTrace RP 5.81 Released
Auto PeakTrace RP 5.81 has been released. Most of the changes with this release are on the server side and so will be available no matter which version of Auto PeakTrace RP you are using, however, we do recommend everyone update to this version as it offers increased robustness when used with slow or unreliable networks. The changes and improvements in this release are:
- Improved robustness when using slow or unreliable networks and/or remote shared drives.
- Bug fixes and help manual updates.
This update is available from the Nucleics downloads page. Auto PeakTrace RP should also notify you that an update is available for download.
Auto PeakTrace 5.80 released
It has been a busy year so far and we have just released another new update for Auto PeakTrace (5.80). The changes are
- New Feature. Check for updates can be user controlled from within Options.
- New Feature. The license code is now user accessible.
- Improved checking of input and output paths at runtime.
- Improve browsing for remote share input and output folders.
- Bug fixes.
It is recommend that anyone using 5.70 immediately update to this version (it is available as always on our Downloads page). If you are using a version of Auto PeakTrace before 5.70 you will need a free license update. To obtain this license update please contact us.
PeakTrace 5.71 Linux x86_64 Released
The Linux version of PeakTrace 5.71 has been released. We have discontinued support for REHL 5 due to changes in the CodeMeter runtime requirements. PeakTrace is available for REHL 6 (CentOS 6.6+) only.
This update is available from the Nucleics Downloads page and it is highly recommended for all Linux PeakTrace users upgrade to this release. The full list of changes:
