We have noticed that our 3130xl analyzer runs well for around 3-4 months then we start to see the reinjection rate increase significantly (often 8/16 injections on a single run) and a visit from the ABI service engineer is needed to get it running properly again. This happened recently and on carrying out a waterwash i noticed lots of urea around the array port, the pin and even the seal of the buffer chamber. Suspecting a leak i called ABI and an engineer came out and replaced the pump, and also the array which he claimed was broken, although we had not observed any capillaries not working. Since then the reinjection rate has not improved and the data we do get is pretty grotty with negative baseline in all 4 colours and a wobbly background trace visible in electropherograms. ABI say the data is fine but I’m not happy with it – any ideas please?
If you want some feedback on your traces I can have a look at them if you write to me directly.
